“Prioritizing Us | A Session with My Husband”

May 19, 2025

As a photographer, I’m always behind the camera—capturing connection, laughter, and love for others. But this time, I did something different. I edited a session of us—photos of me and my husband, taken by a dear friend. And I have to say, it felt like a deep breath I didn’t know I needed.

We’ve been in a busy season lately—kids, work, life. The kind where time slips by and you realize it’s been far too long since you looked into each other’s eyes without a toddler climbing on your back. So, we set a date. We dressed up (kind of), laughed, and let someone else tell our story through the lens. And now, sitting with these images as I edit, I’m reminded of something simple but powerful: this connection matters.

It’s easy to pour ourselves into everything and everyone else, but showing up for your marriage—intentionally, joyfully—is something future us will thank us for. I want to be a wife who still reaches for his hand, who still sneaks kisses in between the chaos, and who sets aside time to just be together.

Editing these photos was more than just work—it was a reminder of why I fell in love with storytelling in the first place. These aren’t just pictures; they’re a piece of our legacy.

So here’s your gentle nudge: take the photos. Be in them. Make time for the love that started it all. You’ll never regret it.
