Some of my favorite sessions aren’t out in golden fields or on sunlit trails—they’re right at home, in the everyday places where real life happens. This week, I pulled out my camera for something extra special: a session with my kids and our brand new chicks, right in the heart of our home.
The excitement in our house has been off the charts since the chicks arrived. Fluffy, tiny, and full of curiosity—they’ve already made themselves part of the family. Watching my kids gently hold them, peek into the brooder a dozen times an hour, and chatter endlessly about names and colors… it’s been the sweetest reminder of how wonder-filled childhood can be.
Photographing this moment felt sacred. Their messy hair, bare feet, and wide-eyed joy as they bonded with these little creatures—it’s something I never want to forget. These aren’t just cute pictures (though they are so cute); they’re the beginning of a new rhythm for our family.
Raising chicks together is more than just a fun project. It’s an invitation for my kids to learn responsibility, care, and connection with nature. It’s early morning checks, learning patience, and celebrating small milestones—together. And the fact that we get to do all of this side-by-side, in our own home? That’s what makes it so special.
This session reminded me why I love what I do. It’s not about perfection—it’s about capturing the real, meaningful, fleeting pieces of our story. And this little chapter of life with chicks and curious kiddos? It’s one I’ll treasure forever.
