“Baseball, Big Smiles & a Lot of Personality | Photographing My Brother’s Team”

May 17, 2025

This past week, I had the most fun photographing my brother’s baseball team—and even though there wasn’t a game happening, the session was full of energy, laughter, and so much personality.

We kicked things off with individual portraits, and that’s where the creativity really started flowing. Each player had their own vibe, and I loved getting to highlight that. Some were all business with their serious “baseball faces,” others cracked up between shots, and a few showed off their favorite stances or poses like little pros. It was awesome seeing how proud they were in their uniforms, and I wanted each photo to reflect not just what they looked like, but who they are.

I got to play with different poses—bats over shoulders, gloves tucked under arms, kneeling on the field, and even some fun, candid moments when they thought the camera wasn’t watching (spoiler: I definitely was). It was one of those sessions where the kids made it easy to capture great stuff because they were just being themselves.

After we finished with the individual shots, we moved on to the team photo. And let me tell you—it was a hilarious mix of trying to get everyone focused and also letting the kids just have fun with it. We grabbed that classic team lineup that the parents will definitely want framed, and then loosened up for a few silly ones that showed off just how close this group is. Those behind-the-scenes laughs are the real memories.

Photographing my brother was extra special for me. Watching him light up around his teammates and getting to be the one to capture that meant so much. It’s moments like this that remind me why I love photography—not just for the polished portraits, but for the stories they hold.

This session was a great reminder that even without the game-day action, there’s so much joy and personality to capture. And honestly? I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
